Taichung Summit Resort 台中新社古堡花園

Hi Guys! Aside from the usual recommended places which you will be able to get a lot of information online, I will be introducing Taichung Summit Resort 台中新社古堡花園.

I took a bus from Taichung Station. Remember to ask the driver if you are in the right direction! I almost got onto the wrong bus... I apologise for the lack of details as I went to this place 2 years ago so I cannot remember what bus number I took. Journey to the nearest bus stop is about an hour and you have to grab a taxi to this Summit Resort which is less than 10 minutes away.
I don't want to spoil the fun by sharing too many photos, but I felt that this place is a pretty place to visit. Yes ,this is a castle themed garden with lots of pretty brick buildings. No, you will not be swept away by a knight in shining armor or get a ride in a pumpkin carriage. And if you love birds are going there alone, I do recommend bringing a tripod along as there are lots of photo opportunities. In fact, this might just be a great location for your outdoor wedding photo shoot!

Food here is nether fancy nor cheap, so you may or may not dine here. It's really up to you. You may also pack some food from the 7-Eleven at the bus stop and bring in to dine at one of the pavilions with a great view. (I am a 7-Eleven fan. Love the microwavable cream chicken spaghetti!)

And just my two cents worth:
Feng Jia Night Market 逢甲夜市 - How can you miss out on probably the best Night Market in Taichung? (or at least it is the most Famous) Food, food and more glorious FOOD!!! Fried mushrooms (love it), fresh milk tea (addicted to it), chicken cooked and seasoned in so many different methods!! And lots of interesting variety that I have never seen, stuffed potatoes. cheese meat sticks, sugar coated fruits and so many more! One of Taichung's delicacies is the 大肠包小肠 Da Chang Bao Xiao Chang, literally large intestines wraps small intestines. What a yummy name right? Right? Anyway, the small intestines is actually pork sausage and the large intestine is Glutinous Rice wrapped in the thin intestine membrane. Imagine hotdog bun, but instead of bun it is rice. On the whole, it is pretty edible so long you don't go into the whole details of how it is done and such.

Yi Zhong Street 一中商圈 (Night Market) - Pretty good place to shop, but I think the stuff in Taipei is cheaper. Maybe because of more competition from the many accessible night markets in Taipei. Not all shops allow you to bargain, so don't go all offensive on the locals!

Taichung Park 台中公園 - It is convenient as compared to the Summit Resort, but this is just a neighborhood garden so do not expect too much. It has a pretty red bridge over a little pond, a playground for kids and a few stone animal statues. When I was there, they happened to have a food event so I got to try some of the local delicacies all in one place. Lucky!
